LRL’s services were retained by the design-builder to complete the M&E Engineering Design Services for the new 3M N95 mask manufacturing facility on Brockville. As the M&E designers we worked directly with the design-builder and their construction team to move the project forward through the very aggressive timeline.
This project involved providing the following services to assist with the design and construction of the new 3M N95 mask production facility in Brockville, Ontario:
Some key design items that were different from standard projects were a private electrical transformation area since 3M used voltage different than Canadian standards for this facility as well as a central cooling plant for the process equipment inside the building which was crucial to their operation.
3M made a commitment to the provincial and federal governments to deliver this facility in full operation for March 2021. This being a large industrial facility, LRL had to work in conjunction with the design-builder, his sub-contractors and 3Ms engineers to keep the project moving along and completed on time. Through daily collaboration and communication, the full team was able to deliver the facility to 3M 2 weeks early and mask production was started on time as promised.
